Marvelous Weekend Trip and Family Additions

12 Aug

Good morning all and happy Monday!!  I hope you all had a good weekend and are feeling refreshed and ready for the start of a new week!

Today is Monday which means linking up with Katie and talking about some marvelous things!  So let’s get this party started.

I just got back yesterday from a short weekend trip to Los Angeles.  What a WEEKEND!

Marvelous is…traveling!  I love, love, love traveling.  My brother and I got our tooshies ready to go Friday morning to head to the bus stop to get taken to the airport.  Well we were waiting…and waiting…and waiting a little more.  The bus wasn’t coming and we couldn’t wait around forever or we’d miss our flight, so we ended up driving down to the airport and just parking there.  Not ideal, but it worked.  We got there in plenty of time and it was lunch time.  So we got some eats while we waited.  I picked up this bad boy and man, it  Marvelous is…chicken curry salad (from the airport)!!!

Our flight was a direct flight from Milwaukee to Los Angeles, so we had about a 4 hour long flight.  We arrived around 4:30 or so and then had to wait for Jessa…her flight was to come in just after 8…so we had a bit of a wait.  But, it was fine.  For din-din, I got some oh-so-scrumptious sushi.  Seriously, I don’t know if I was just really hungry when eating today, but every.single.thing tasted amazing.  The California rolls (seemed appropriate for being in LA ;)) were amazing.  Marvelous is…sushi!!  I literally wolfed it down in a matter of a few minutes.  (I took a picture after I had already consumed some…)

Waiting was the name of the game but FINALLY we saw her coming from the International Terminal around 9:30 or so!

We all had a really long day, so once we got our shuttle to our hotel, we checked in, showered, and called it a day.  Bed time never felt so good!  Marvelous is…sleeping when you are COMPLETELY exhausted!  It just feels so good.

The next morning, we slept in a bit, then had some breakfast at the hotel, and were on our way.  We decided to go to Santa Monica, walk around there, and go to the beach!!  The weather was super cool for California, or what we expected California to be.  It was only in the low to mid 70s…so going in the water was not going to be an option, nor really getting any tanning in either.  It was quite an adventure though…the lady at the hotel counter printed off some information for us on the bus route we could take in order to get to the ‘Pier’ in Santa Monica.  What I didn’t realize, and what she obviously didn’t realize either, was that she just entered in ‘Pier’ assuming it was the pier down along the oceanfront.  Welllllll….turns out she told us to get off at PIER STREET.  So we got off the bus, walked around a while, and realized this was NOT where we needed to be.  We were probably a good couple miles away from the real pier.  So, we got ourselves back on the bus.  By this time, we (my brother and I) were already getting crabby, irritable, and hungry.  We turn in to monsters when we get really hungry, just an FYI.  So, we finally thought we got to the right area…’Montana Avenue’ was where I thought was near the beach/ocean.  We walked around there a bit and found out WE I WAS WRONG!

Finally, we realized the RIGHT direction we needed to go…so we just decided to walk it.  We FINALLY SAW THE OCEAN IN THE DISTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Marvelous iswalking 1000 miles and FINALLY seeing your destination!!!!

We finally made it…but now that we knew where the beach and ocean was, it was time to get FOOD!  I was getting so crabby and was about ready to eat my arm off…so we made our way to the Third Street Promenade assuming we’d find food there.  We settled for a cute little Mexican place called Cabo Cantina.

Marvelous is…FOOD WHEN YOU ARE STARVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was so happy to see that tasty bowl put in front of me!  I was a happy little lady.  Mmmm was it TASTY!  I don’t remember what the name of it was, but it had grilled vegetables, chicken, cheese, salsa + a large heaping scoop of delicious. 🙂  We also shared a watermelon margarita.  After all the walking and crabbiness, it was needed!  Phew!  Plus it felt so good to sit down!

After we refueled and recharged, we made our way back to the beach/oceanfront.  It was cool with the wind blowing off of the ocean, so I had to put a sweater on, but otherwise it was 100% perfect.  Blue, cloudless skies and sunshine!  It felt so perfect and so relaxing!

We had a marvelous time at the beach and checking out Pacific Park Pier.  We finally decided to make our way back since we didn’t know just how long it would end up taking us to get there!  Eeek!  It was an adventure all of its own, but we EVENTUALLY got our way back to the hotel…after missed buses, getting off at the wrong stop, and assuming the bus was taking a different route then it did…oy.  Marvelous is…getting back to the hotel safely after a LONG LONG day!  We must have walked at least 7 miles total that day!  Not even exaggerating!!

We woke up bright and early…around 5:15.  Got some coffee and food in our belly and then made our way to the airport for our flight home.  We made it home around 3 pm and our parents met us at the airport to welcome Jessa to Wisconsin! 🙂

Marvelous is…new additions to the family! 🙂  This will be such a fun, exciting time and I can’t wait!!

Marvelous is…Monday and Tuesday off of work!

Happy Monday to you all and have a marvelous week!
