Gorgeous sunsets, eleven hours with a best friend, and planning for the fall

16 Sep

It’s Monday again, loves.  That means it’s time to hook up with Katie for Marvelous in My Monday!

Wisconsin weather has gone from a summery 95 degrees earlier last week, to 60 degrees in a matter of three days.  I always sneak away to read on my lunch break at work and Friday was one of the best conditions for reading.  It was cool, the sun was shining, and the weather was so fall-like.  It was just perfect.  I love reading (and especially so in the fall)  Sadly, I was enjoying it so much that it made it really hard to go back to work 😦

We have had some absolutely stunning sunrises and sunsets in the last few days.  I have been regretfully without a camera on several occasions when I wanted to take some pictures, but was able to snap some really great ones, too!

Saturday was one of the best days I’ve had in quite a while.  Life has been pretty chaotic for me in a very personal sense in the last few days.  My relationship with my husband is on the rocks and I’ve been really a mess, feeling strong one minute and then just as quickly feeling completely and utterly terrified of what will be the outcome.  I woke up feeling pretty crummy, yet had plans with my best friend later that afternoon and I really did not want to be a crab when we got together.  Fortunately, she’s the type of person that always makes me feel better.  We had planned a hike together and it was absolutely perfect!  The weather was right around 70 and sunny; perfect hiking weather.  After our hike, we just, simply hung out together, looking at fun fall ideas on pinterest (more to come on that), grabbed dinner at Noodles & Co. and then went to a concert that night.  A friend of mine just joined a band and we went to support him.

We both were feeling pretty ‘blah’ and ended up leaving early from the show.  We had a wonderful heart-to-heart, emotional talk and it just was so therapeutic.  It’s amazing how a simple talk with your best friend has the power to just make you feel ‘ok’ when you previously felt broken, hurt, empty, and like all your questions are unanswered.  I really don’t know what I’d do without her, especially now.  I need her more than ever and I’m so thankful to have her in my life.  We ended up spending 11 hours together Saturday afternoon-Sunday early morning…and you know what?  It didn’t even feel close to that long.  I’ve never had a friend that I can spend that much time with.  Usually it’s a few hours and I’m ready to have my ‘me’ time again.  So I consider our friendship to be one of the biggest blessings in my life and a real treasure.

I have been getting so excited about fall.  All things fall!  I am one of those people that really gets into anything seasonal when it comes to fall 🙂  Here are some great fall goodies I picked up this weekend!

Maybe I’m a little obsessed with pumpkin spice flavored goodies?!

There is nothing better than candles in the fall – especially when you have awesome fall scents like these!

I woke up Sunday morning to rain and gloom, a real fall-ish day, so I jumped at the opportunity to light a candle.

I also spent a considerable time on Saturday with my best friend looking at pinterest where we created our board ‘fab fall fun’.  There are SO many things I can’t wait to do/make!  Here are few of my favorites so far!

pumpkin everything is reason alone to feel pretty marvelous 😉

Hope you all have a marvelous Monday and even more marvelous week!  (It’s pretty amazing how just writing about things that are marvelous, made my mood improve so much!)

Uh, I love the idea with your pinterest board – will hop over and check it out! Pumpkin is all I crave at the moment, just made my first spaghetti squash of the season yesterday. Bliss! Hope things work out with your husband 😦 . It’s sad to feel disconnected with those we’ve been so close to. What book are you reading? I am always searching for inspiration.

Thanks so much, girl. I’m so fortunate to have such amazing family and friends who are there to help and support me through it, so at least that helps somewhat. And I’m so glad I’m not the only one loving pumpkin everything!

The book is called The Best is Yet To Come by Judith Gould. It’s not exactly my type of book, a bit more soap-opera-esque than real life, but I’ve been enjoying it at least.

Scented candles alone make saying goodbye to summer a little easier. Hazelnut Toddy? That sounds amazing. I hope I’ll be able to find some of the cinnamon and Vanilla Ice Cream scented ones I got last year again.
Hearing about the wonderful time you had with that friend of yours is awesome. It’s so true that a very good friend can help you forget about any hurdles and just make you feel better instantly. Seeing how rare these kind of friendships are they can truly be considered some of our biggest blessings.
