The little things (MIMM)

02 Feb

Happy Monday boys and girls!  I had such a GREAT weekend.  But what’s crazy about it is that it wasn’t really that special.  I mean, I didn’t really do anything super fun.  In fact, I probably did a lot of not-so-fun things but I really enjoyed it anyway!  I guess it’s all in the way you look at it, right?  My favorite link-up is here, talking about all of our marvelous things.  Thanks, Katie for hosting such a positive party!

I had predetermined that Saturday was going to be a cleaning day.  So when I woke up and saw this, I was a happy camper!

It made staying inside all day that much better!  Saturday was also the day for me to run my “long run” (which for me is 5 miles.  Guys, I’m just starting so 5 miles is the most I’ve run in foreverrrrrr)

I also did this Saturday morning while I had a little coffee.  It’s February, which is Eating Disorder Awareness Month.  Even if you personally don’t have an eating disorder or have had one in the past, you may know someone who has one.  Take the time to check out the link on that post which connects to the Facebook page of the event.

After having a little coffee and posting to The Purple Project, I wanted to see if I could get my run out of the way straight away in the morning.  I wasn’t sure how my stomach was going to be, but decided to gave it a go…and I made it happen!  In fact, my stomach was better than it usually is when I do my running after work during the week.  I kept it slow and steady but felt really good about it.  I decided to try reading a magazine while running since I was hoping it would distract me from constantly watching how far I’ve gone (which I’m guilty of doing) and it worked like a charm!

Since I’m running on the treadmill at home, and am a mother of two cats who are rambunctious, I have to close them out of the bedroom while I’m running.  Normally, it’s not a huge deal, but Dexter was sleeping on the bed so I let him stay there, meanwhile closing Meeko out.  I think she knew it because she kept trying to claw her way under the door (which is NOT good since she tears up the rug!!) so when I finished running, I planned to keep walking for a while.  I slowed the treadmill down but kept it ON, got off, opened the door, got ready to return to the treadmill, yet totally spaced out.  I attempted to get on it as if it was OFF.  Well, needless to say, I wiped out.

Yeah, I’m pretty awesome.  Pretty fortunate I didn’t pull that stunt at the gym! :O  Haha, oh well…So aside from my clumsiness, I also love running at home because I do it in my sports bra and underwear guys.  No shame.  It’s fabulous!  I love it! 😀

After knocking out my run (and knocking out myself!), I showered and then started my big cleaning project!  I was really ready to make it happen.  I got myself into “cleaning mode” and grabbed my big box of cleaning supplies from the closet.  I had some awesome helpers…

I spent the next 4.5 hours cleaning!  I tackled my bathroom floor, counters, and tub, the kitchen floor, counters, and sink, organized all of our drawers in the living room, and cleaned the desk and bookcases in the office!  I was EXHAUSTED!  But everything looked so great!  Scott came over after working on some projects at the house and knocked out the rest, cleaning “his” bathroom, vacuuming, and dusting!  Our place looks fabulous!

Time to relax the rest of the evening after a long day’s work!  Snuggling with these cuties is always a treat!

Sunday morning, the sun was shining and it looked so nice out!  Even though it was cold, the sun just felt and looked great!  I knocked out my three-miler in the morning (which was another great run!) while reading again.  Man, time goes so much faster when I’m reading!  It’s the perfect distraction.  It helps even more than music does.  After running, I slowly got myself ready to go to run some errands.  Meeko and Dexter obviously loved the sun, too!

I got laundry done, ran out and about and got grocery shopping done, went to church and then headed over to Scott’s mom’s house to watch the Super Bowl with Scott.  He’s housesitting for his mom while she’s out of town this month in Arizona.  I am excited for the game!  I have to say that I am hoping Seattle wins, but will not at all be upset if the Broncos win.  I think they’re both good teams and very well-deserving of a win.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a marvelous Monday!!!  ❤

Ouch! I have yet to have a treadmill accident, but I managed to tumble while getting off my stationary bike a while back (yes, the STATIONARY bike, that takes talent!). Were you able to read your magazine while running? I’ve occasionally tried to read a book (on my ipad/kindle app) but it only works if I’m walking. Reading and riding (on said stationary bike) seems to work better for me. I rely on the TV (netflix or DVDs) to keep me entertained when on the treadmill or elliptical.

Haha we are just the epitome of coordination and skill, aren’t we?! haha. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who has had problems with exercise equipment!

I was actually really surprised that I could read pretty well! The smaller print was a little harder to read, but the magazine print was actually pretty good! I’ve tried watching things before while running, and it is a close second. (Especially if I find something really good to watch!)

Do you know the longest distance I have ever run without stopping? Half a mile. MAYBE ¾, but I’m not so sure actually. So don’t be so quick to frou frou 5 miles. That sounds like a high-endurance miracle to me.

Having a clean house feels amazing. Glad you were productive and enjoyed it!

Well thank you for putting things in perspective! I guess I should just be happy with what I AM able to do, instead of thinking of what I’m not!

I love having a clean house. If only it stayed that way forever… 😦

I’m with you on 5 miles being a long run. I am training for a half marathon in May and I’m still only at 3 miles for my long run (I think tomrorow is 3.5) but yes, I can definitely relate to being a newbie at this! 🙂

Also, I’m seriously in love with your new cat! So adorable!

Sorry to hear that you wiped out on the treadmill. I have almost done so and it is not a nice feeling (I went down on one side but held myself up and only ended up scraping one part of my knee!)

Ah I am super curious what plan/schedule you’re using! I feel like I’m accelerating really fast (mileage-wise) for a newbie runner just starting off. I think I need something a little more slow to build than what I’m currently doing.

Thanks! She’s so sweet! Love her to pieces already 🙂

Haha you have much more skill and talent than I do. I couldn’t save myself!
