weekend things and MIMM

Summer is quickly coming to a close now it seems.  August has come and gone, and now September is here, along with shorter days, and crisp mornings and evenings.  We still get the warmth and heat from the day yet which is really nice.  I will enjoy the warm days and cool nights as long as I can.  But there is something nice about welcoming fall now, too.  I just wish our fall lasted much, much longer.  But, I digress.  So let’s get on with the fun link-up with Katie for some Marvelous in my Monday talk.

Before I get too far into this post, I wanted to share a picture of part of the anniversary card that I made for my brother and sister-in-law.  I had recently made a card for a co-worker and had a fun time with it, so I decided to make a card for my brother and seester’s first anniversary!  (First anniversary ALREADY!  It went just so fast!)  Because she is originally from the Philippines and only came to America in July of last year, I kind of went with that as my “theme”.  She is used to the beach and warm, tropical areas, and we, living in Wisconsin, are accustomed to cold and lots of snow!  I have to say, I thought it was a really cute idea.  The inner left side was the picture, with the right side being my long, lengthy ramblings on to my brother and seester about just how much  I love them both 🙂  Maybe I won’t be a professional card maker, but I had a blast doing it and they loved it, which is all that matters.

Friday evening was a designated cleaning/organizing/tidying up night, since the owner of our place and his realtor scheduled an open house for Saturday morning.  Aside from all the chaos with boxes and everything, we still had to make the place look somewhat decent.  We got the place looking really great and I discovered a new love that I will never go without again.  Friday was the first night that I used a Swiffer and my life has forever changed.  Cleaning up all the cat hair in the bathrooms and kitchen had been so laborious before, and now…well now it is SOOOO much easier!  As in, almost enjoyable.  I will never go without one again and am considering investing in a wet jet, since I’ve heard good things about that one too!

Saturday morning was pretty relaxed.  I woke up pretty early which was nice.  Scott was going over to my parents today to work on a threshold for a door in the garage.  So I had the morning to myself for a while.  And of course I snagged a few pictures of my kitties.  What is a post from Little Miss Fit without some pictures of my cats?  Seriously…I call the left one, Dexter’s thriller dance.  He’s a big fan of Michael Jackson… 😉  And that belly…haha I love it.

After a relaxing early morning, I headed over to my parent’s house while the open house was going to take place.  I had a really nice chance to just spend time talking with my mom.  We rarely get a chance to really sit down face-to-face and talk for an extended period of time.  (We talk everyday, just by email mostly)  So that was really nice.  After the open house was done, I headed on over to the house to check on the cats before leaving to meet up with a friend.  We met at Starbucks, but neither one of us were feeling too good and ended up just having water and stealing a seat on their patio 😉  I recently started a new medication and my tummy has NOT been a huge fan of it…My stomach is normally really sensitive to begin with, and coffee is really rough on my stomach (I usually get the lower acidity coffee for that reason, Folgers Simply Smooth) so I knew that stronger coffee would just be a bad idea.  She, too, has had some recent health problems and needs to really work on hydrating, so water it was for us.  But we sat ourselves in the sunshine and had a chance to chat, which was longgg overdue.  It was a really nice time, as always.

I made my way home for a bit before I was expected to meet up with my brother and seester to go to the beach/a state park.  I started feeling really crappy though and just laid on the couch when I got home…I didn’t think I’d be able to meet up with them since my stomach hurt so bad.  I started to get frustrated with my new medication, and still am considering trying to switch/not take it.  But, I emailed my NP and asked her if this would be a long-lasting side effect, or just a result of me starting a new medication and my body not adjusting to it yet.  After laying down for a while, and after thinking about just how absolutely gorgeous the weather was with temperatures in the mid 70s and sunny, knowing that the warm days are not going to last much longer, I decided to still go with my brother and seester.  I was really glad I did, too.

We took a nice hike and then relaxed by the beach.  The pain subsided a bit, and I was able to actually enjoy myself, which was really nice.  I love spending time with my brother and seester so much.  My brother and I are both dealing with some similar struggles/issues right now, although a little different, and he has been a huge support to me lately, and I to him.  We have been talking with each other everyday and sharing a lot with one another and it really helps so much having him.  And I know that the support I’m giving him helps, too, even if it just means listening to him, or having him over in the evening.  Sometimes it’s just nice to have that distraction.

It was really nice having that time with them and being able to be outside to enjoy the weather.  We made our way home, I ran to the store to get a few things, then relaxed the rest of the night. Scott’s mom’s cat is now staying with us, and he is so ravenous.  He will eat and eat and eat non-stop, until he ends up throwing up from eating too much, too quickly.  He doesn’t know his limits…so we really have to watch his food intake.  I thought that by putting the food on top of the fridge, it would be far enough away from him so that he wouldn’t get to it.  But I was clearly wrong.  I caught him climbing on top of the counter and then on top of the fridge…so now, the food is going inside the kitchen cabinets.  If he can find his way to open those, well then he must be the smartest cat ever.

Scott didn’t get home until after 9:30.  After he finished up at my parent’s working on the door in the garage, he went over to a friend of his mom’s (where his mom is now staying until she moves in to her new place) to help work to install the bathroom floor and re-install the toilet.  He was a busy guy, and when he came home we just relaxed together for the evening.  It was a pretty chill night, which was nice.

Sunday I woke up super late, because I stayed up super, super late on Saturday night.  So, waking up so late in the morning, I felt super groggy and out of it after getting up.  Church was at one, and I spent an hour and a half just relaxing and waking up. Meeko came and snuggled with me on the couch, which I always love.  She’s the cutest little thing.

I finally started to feel a bit better and more alive by the time we left the house, thankfully.  After church, we went grocery shopping together.  I got a workout in when I got home after we unpacked the groceries, and then did some cleaning out of our kitchen cabinets, and did some packing.  We did A LOT of cleaning out which was good and we are going to donate a lot of things that we have no need for to Goodwill, which I feel really good about.  We found this bad boy, which clearly came from Scott’s mom and just somehow made it’s way into our cabinets and has stayed there since Scott first moved in.  All I can say is, if we had known that this sucker was in our cabinets, we would have had bacon lololol

I did some meal prep for the coming start of the work-week, then my brother and seester came over for the evening to watch Sunday Night Football, Broncos versus Colts.  It was a great end to the weekend.  Ready to tackle another week.  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and a marvelous Monday!! ❤

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows (MIMM)

First of all….have you guys EVER heard the song ‘Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows’?!?  If not, I suggest you give it a listen.  I had never heard the song before in my life but Scott sang it one time a long time ago (and then a lottttttt of times after!) and it just got stuck in my head.  Well, he sang it again this weekend and it just seemed like a very appropriate title for this post since we finally had some sunshine and the weather has just been ‘feel-good’ lately.  So since we’re talking sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, lets get right into talking some marvelousness!

Well our temperatures finally FINALLY started to warm up a bit.  We had been having an absolutely awful spring as far as weather is concerned…but Thursday it jumped like at least 30 to 40 degrees and got up around 80 and humid.  Crazy.  We go from one extreme to the next!  Then it settled around 70 for the next few days, absolutely perfect.  The sun came out, too, which made it even better since we had been dealing with a lot of rain and dreariness.

Friday night was just a chill night in.  Scott and I watched a movie and just relaxed.  We both were just feeling like a calm and quiet night in at the end of the week.  Friday night was also the last night that Meeko needed to wear her cone and onesie!  She was such a champ these past weeks.  This is our typical bedtime ritual…she tends to like to use my face as her pillow…

Saturday morning, I removed the cone and onesie and she was a free kitty again!  She started grooming like ca-razy!  I could tell she was totally happy to be free again 🙂  I had a pretty chill start to the day, then got up and went for a 6-mile run…slow and steady and it felt really great to run that distance again!  I got myself ready for the day since I had made plans with Scott, my brother and his wife to hang out in the afternoon!  I was really looking forward to it.  We went down to Milwaukee and toured the Pabst Mansion together, then made our way down by the lake.  We stopped off to get some drinks and eats and Colectivo by the lake and then walked all over the lakeshore!

We all had a really great time together!  The weather was perfect and the sun just felt soooo good.  After getting back home, I ran out to the store to get a few things, came back and did some dishes and laundry, then plopped my toosh down for the night!  It was a busy, full day, but it was SO enjoyable!  Scott and I watched Dumb and Dumber together, and then I caught part of Bridesmaids on TV.  I absolutely LOVE that movie.  I have seen it so many times on TV in the last year or so and it seriously never gets old.  I absolutely love it!

Sunday morning, I was awaken at about 5 am by my little punkers of a kitty, Meeko, jumping up onto and down from the gate we have closing off the staircase that goes down to the entryway.  She has now been able to master jumping up on the gate!  That alone is an amazing feat because the gate is so narrow and she can balance on it!  But, that also presents a problem…if she can jump on it, she can clearly get down over the other side and get down the stairs, so when we open the door, she could quickly run outside!  NOT GOOD.  So, now we need to come up with something else.  Maybe a higher gate?!  Maybe a screen door down by the other door so that we can open the outer door and see if she’s downstairs or not?!  I’m not sure.  But we’ll need to come up with something fast!  She is definitely a little handful, this one.  I got so used to Dexter who is the most chill, complacent cat in the world and he doesn’t get into too much trouble.  Meeko is quite another story!

Sunday got actually pretty…hot!  We got up to about 82 degrees with the sun shining (and the sun was hot!)  The morning started off really nice.  I spent some quality snuggle time with my little boogers.  Meeko (fortunately!) still likes to snuggle!  After she got her cone and onesie off, she has been running around like a crazy kitty and hasn’t been spending any time with me or snuggling 😦  I was getting a little bummed out.  But, this morning, she nestled right in!  She wished me a Happy Mumsie’s Day 😀

After my snuggles, I did a 4 mile run, with a one mile cool down walk, did my grocery shopping, then took a little time to lay out in the sun!  Who would have thought?!  But, don’t be fooled guys…it’s going to drop into the 50s again next week! 😥  NOOO!  The rest of the day went by super fast, I couldn’t even believe it!  The whole weekend flew by actually.  The rest of the day was spent at church and relaxing with Scott and the kitties.  A pretty dang good weekend overall.  😀  Hope you all had a good weekend!!  Happy Monday!! ❤

a little bit of sunshine (mimm)

Hey hey hey!  Well I first have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that I didn’t link up last week for my absolute favorite link-up, but I am back this week to share in the fun!  I definitely love this focus-on-the-positive opportunity to blog and to share some highlights of life lately, so I’m glad to be back this week.

As any of you ITLMF readers know, I have been pretty consumed with my kitties lately.  My little Meeko got spayed a few weeks back and she has been a good chunk of my focus for a while now.  She has been a pure kitty, trying to be playful and naughty at times.  She has definitely been a handful!  But I’ve loved spending time with her and interacting with her (and Dexter!) more, too.  They are my little boogers and I love em to pieces.

I’m not really sure how that toilet paper roll got there…don’t judge, guys.

IMG_0224-2 IMG_0276

Phew, we FINALLY got to take Meeko in to the vet first thing Saturday morning to get her sutures removed.  She has been such a champ lately and has really been a pretty awesome kitty.  Makes me love her that much more!  The vet was a wee bit “aggressive” removing the sutures and removing some scabs that formed on her wound 😦  I was a bit sad when I saw that and saw that because of it part of her wound opened up a bit.  But, maybe I’m just a sensitive over-protective mom.  Well, I know I am, but oh well.  It was good to take her home.  We were instructed to still keep the cone on her for 7 days, and I (being the over-protective mom that I am) put her “onesie” back on for just a little longer.  Also, we can use antibiotic cream on the incision area if we notice it becoming red or if she’s licking her wound.  But she has free access to jump and roam about wherever she pleases now 😀

This past week or so has been nothing but cloudy, gloomy, chilly, and rainy.  So when we saw the sun shining on Saturday morning, I think we both had such a HUGE boost in our moods.  We both had been struggling a bit with our moods lately so when the sun was shining and our moods took a huge boost, we were so happy!  Saturday was designated as the day we were going to spend together (although we had no real plans made ahead of time) since he had to leave for Texas first thing Sunday morning for work.  We were both in ‘meh’ moods earlier in the week but we were both happy that our day together started off on a good note.  We decided to get outside, get as much sunshine as possible, and took a nice hike down by the lakefront.  Before heading down that way, though, we made a little pit stop to fuel up at one of Scott’s favorite places!

I have never eaten here before, but Scott always raved about it and I can totally see why.  Moe’s Southwest Grill is a pretty neat place.  The whole staff yell to greet you when you come in (and I mean every single employee) and the food – well, the food is really tasty!  Plus, they have one of those soda machines that have a billion different types of soda and soda flavors.  I had to try the Peach Sprite Zero, but the main reason we got soda was for our favorite, which we often get angry about them not selling in stores.  DIET GRAPE SODA!  (Fanta Zero was the brand they had)  We both love grape soda but they do not sell diet in stores.  Why, oh, why?!

I seriously contemplated just spending our afternoon at Moes’ and trying as many soda flavors as we possibly could.  Buttttt, we decided to venture out (with a full container of grape soda to go!)  Gosh the sunshine just felt so good.  It was a bit windy down by the lake, but I didn’t even care.  The breeze actually helped balance out the warmth from the sun quite nicely so we were pretty comfortable for our whole walk.  We grabbed Max and brought him along with us.  He absolutely loves when we take him on walks with us!

IMG_0281 IMG_0288 IMG_0298 IMG_0300

We had SUCH a great day!  It went far too fast though.  When we got home we had a little time together, but then Scott had to pack himself up and ended up going over by his mom’s to stay there overnight.  His mom was going to drop him off at work (where he was meeting up with his co-workers who were also going on the trip) bright and early in the morning around 6:30 am since she needed his vehicle during the week to take in to get some work done.  So that meant that I had to say goodbye to him Saturday night.  😦  But we were both super happy that he got to leave on such a good note.

Sunday was a nice slow start to the day.  I ended up starting some laundry, ran 4 miles, went grocery shopping (and also got some goodies for my brother!), went to church with the family, cleaned the apartment and then I had my brother, his wife, and my parents over to watch a movie in the evening.  We ended up watching Tommy Boy.  I’ve seen it so many times but I absolutely LOVE Chris Farley.  Always good for some laughs.  😀  I also gave my brother a gift I got him.  He has been working full-time (and part-time at another job) while going taking classes online to get his bachelor’s degree in Accounting (which his employer paid him for!) and finally graduated!  Saturday was his last day, so I got him a few things.  I got the most awesome card for him.  Plus, I saw a display in the liquor department of the store I was at and decided to get him something a little different…

You guys, this card is awesome.  There’s music that plays when you open the card and the kitty moves and “plays” the piano.

Peach moonshine!  Heck ya!

I had such a great time with the family.  My kitties were very social, too.  Meeko was shy at first, but ended up coming out and once I plopped her on my brother’s lap, she stayed there for the whole movie.  Towards the end of the movie, Dexter plopped himself on my dad’s lap.  It was too cute.  I was sitting in our big chair (while my brother, Jessa, and I watched Full House, after my parents left) and Meeko snuggled with me for a while.  When my brother and sister-in-law left, I got up to shower and when I came out of the bathroom, I saw that Dexter had joined his sissy. 🙂

I had such a great day and great weekend overall.  I couldn’t be happier right now.  😀  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have a great start of your week. xoxo ❤

me, as a parent

Hello loves, I am fortunate to have a nice 3-day weekend, since my company gave us off work for Good Friday.  Yippie!  I know I am pretty fortunate, since my brother and best friend both had to work, as did many others.  But I definitely appreciated the day off!

I left work a little early on Thursday since I had to do some big-girl stuff and stopped at the car dealership to renew my warranty.  I’ve already had my car for three years!  It feels like I just got that car not long ago.  That is probably still one of the proudest purchases of my life.  I had been saving up money for a long time and fortunately I was able to use my parent’s old car to get some trade-in value to use towards the new car.  I was able to purchase the car and have no financial obligation to monthly payments or anything.  It was one of the best feelings, and I felt really happy in that moment that my dad pushed so much for me to save my money!  One thing I appreciate about my dad, much more now that I am an adult, is the fact that he taught both myself and my brother the importance of saving money and planning financially.  As a kid or teen, you never understand why it’s so important to save, when all you want to do is spend.  But he created such a great foundation for us and instilled that in us at a young age.  I am forever thankful for that.  Had he not been that way, I don’t think I’d have a good head on my shoulders when it comes to financial planning and money.  I still go to him now for help with 401k mumbo jumbo (since it is all foreign to me) and anytime I need help with anything else regarding my finances.  He’s the best.  He absolutely LOVES it, too.  He’s definitely a planner and a numbers’ guy.

Anywho, sorry for that minor little tangent!  Phew.  Pull yourself together, girl…stay on track… 😉 The rest of Thursday was pretty chill.  I knocked out a 5-miler, and spent the evening over by my parents.  It was a good end to the week.  I was SO glad we had a short week.  I just was not in the work-mentality this week.  It was a struggle to get through some days, just because I felt my mind was all over the place.  So Friday off was SO welcome.

Friday morning, bright and early, we had made an appointment to take both of our kitties in to the vet.  Dexter needed his rabies vaccine and another vaccination.  Meeko needed blood work, her rabies vaccine and she was also getting spayed.  It was her first outing to the vet, and a rather traumatic one too!  I had a minor panic attack Thursday night when I realized Meeko was 8 months old and a lot of what I had read (that night) said you should do it when the kitten is 6 months old or younger.  I did more research and found it was okay to do it later than 6 months.  But I was still anxious and had a really hard time sleeping.  I was up bright and early around 6 or 6:30.  I just couldn’t sleep.  We were literally at the vet for about 10 minutes.  Dexter got his shots and got to come home with me.  Meeko got put under, the vet said farewell to us, and told us we could come back around 5:30 to get her.  I had no idea we’d have to leave her there…I really did not do enough research, clearly, on everything that having a pet spayed entailed.  But I left her in the care of the vet and would come back later on.

Scott left to go over to his mom’s place to do some work, so it was just me and Dexter.  I pounded out an 8 mile run and then spent some time with Dexter.  I was worried about him, since the sheet the vet gave me said that there could be complications with the vaccinations.  I noticed his breathing patterns were changing often, so I called the vet just to make sure that it wasn’t anything to worry about.  The vet assured me he was just fine, and if he was having any problems with the vaccination, he would have been vomiting, diarrhea and face swelling.  He didn’t have any of those symptoms at all, so it put my mind at ease.  He was a really tuckered out guy though.  We spent some time snuggling in the sun and then he found his cozy spot on the couch (which is also my favorite place, too!)

While running, I realized that my brother was working today, which meant that Jessa was home alone.  Since I had a little free time in the afternoon before I had to go and pick up Meeko from the vet, I decided to have her over to see Dexter and spend the afternoon with her.  She loves Dexter and hadn’t seen him in a long time, plus I hadn’t spent any one-on-one time with her in so long.  So it was well overdue.  I realized just how much her English has already improved!  (That combined with me learning to understand her more) But we had a really great conversation and it was pretty much effortless.  We talked for about three hours about so much and it was just so nice.  She shared so much about her home in the Philippines, animals they had as pets, and shared pictures with me of her family.  I felt like I got to know her so much more in those 3 hours than I had in many of the other times we spent together.  It was just listening to her talk and share things from her life and her family and it was really moving, actually.  I love the girl so much.  She is so endearing, humble, kindhearted and sweet.  I couldn’t have asked for a better sister-in-law (or seester, as we tend to call each other)

This was from the first time we met!  My brother and I flew out to LA to pick her up, since she was flying to the US to come over here to stay.  She was so shy and quiet at first, but I immediately liked her.  She was just as sweet when we first met and so kind.  She’s been here about 8 months and our relationship has improved so much already!  She was so appreciative that I had her over and spent the afternoon with her.  She kept thanking me and gave me two big hugs.  So cute.  She’s just like a little sister to me.

Well the afternoon quickly flew by and it was time to go pick up Meeko.  I really had no idea what to expect when I got her, but I was just really glad to take her home.  Well I got a list of instructions for Meeko and her medication.  After picking her up, I made a stop at a pet store to get a cone for her to wear so she wouldn’t try and lick the incision area.  I didn’t want to get her the normal plastic ones and ended up getting her a more cushion-y one so it wouldn’t be so uncomfortable for her.

I seriously love that the vet calls them Dexter Sutherland and Meeko Sutherland.  It literally made me smile.  These little boogers are my family.  They’re my babies.

When I got Meeko home, I opened up her crate and she was like a drunk.  She was stumbling all over and so disoriented.  I ended up closing her up in the bedroom since I was so worried about Dexter trying to play with her, or Meeko trying to explore too much, too soon.  After letting her out, I then jumped online to see what I should be doing.  I apparently should have left her in there for a while, if not overnight.  Boy, I felt like such a bad mum.  I did not do hardly any research on what to do, what to expect, etc. and started feeling pretty bad about it.  It was so hard seeing little Meeko like that. 😦  I literally felt so sad.  She was so out of it, and stumbling around, and I fortunately managed to get the cone on her by myself.  She ended up stumbling around a bit, then ended up falling asleep right in front of the door, since Dexter was trying to reach under the door to get to her.  I had to stuff a slipper under the door so she could sleep in peace.

That also meant I was trapped in the bedroom.  But I was okay with that.  She eventually got up and went to hide and sleep under the bed.  I was really anxious about everything.  We had made plans to have Scott’s mom over for a movie, which I still wanted to do.  We had a really nice time and ended up watching Lee Daniels’: The Butler.  I had to get up and check on her a few times, but she was fine under the bed sleeping.  At the end of the movie, I went to check on her and there she was…laying right on the edge of the bed.  The first few hours and she already jumped on the bed! 😦  She isn’t supposed to do any jumping at all.  Now, worry-wort mom that I am, started to get even more anxious about how we’d keep her from jumping.  We had the idea to use a big dog crate or a kennel they had at his mom’s house.  So when he went to drop her off at home after the movie, he came back with a big metal dog kennel to try and keep her in.  It was big enough for a litter box, food, water, and a pillow/blanket for her to sleep on.  We ended up getting her in there before bed, but she was NOT having it.  She started to freak out and knocked her water over, and tried climbing the sides, so we let her out.  😦  I ended up sleeping on the floor in case she wanted to come by me, so she wouldn’t have to jump up on the bed.  I am pretty certain she spent the majority of the night under the bed though.  I slept pretty decent, but couldn’t sleep much more past 7 or so.  I looked under the bed and that face was staring right back at me.  Gah, I love her so much.

She ate a teensie bit when I tried to give her some food, so I thought this was my chance to try and get her to take her medication.  I crushed up a pill, put it in some wet cat food.  She took a few little bites, but left most of it.  Sigh.  Now I’m worried that I won’t be able to get her to take her pills.  I am so thankful that the extent of my parenting will be limited to four-legged creatures.  I don’t think I could handle much more…We’ll see how the rest of the weekend goes…

Runnin’ and runnin’…and being a parent

Happy Monday ladies and gents!  Boy, this weekend sure went by fast!  I could seriously have another repeat…two more days would be fabulous.  But, sadly, that won’t be the case.  😦  Back to work it is.  Yet there were some really good moments lately, that I can’t really complain.  So as always, it’s time to hook up with Katie and share our marvelous moments!

Well as some of you know, I got a brand new little kitten…only 5 months old.  I named her Meeko.  Things have been pretty interesting lately with these little ones getting used to another cat around.  We have been following the steps for introducing each of them to the other.  At least we’re seeing some progression…I think.

2013-01-16 20.19.40

Meeko was kept in the office and Dexter was left in the rest of the house.  Well they quickly caught on that the other was just on the other side of the door and started to meow at each other and reach under the door for each other.

2013-01-16 20.20.38

Well since Meeko was locked in the office, which is my workout room, it was virtually impossible not to have her come by me mid-workout.  She is a huge snuggle-bug and meower when she wants to be played with.  She would meow up a storm when she wanted to me to play with her…and oftentimes when I wouldn’t listen, she’d plop herself right down by my feet.  I almost tripped over here and kicked her several times!  Eek.  But I avoided her.  It was really cute when I was doing yoga one day.  I was doing all sorts of poses and she at several times jumped up onto my knee or on my back while I was holding a pose.  I tried so hard not to laugh and fall, but it was simply too cute!

2013-01-16 20.21.54 2013-01-17 22.11.10

We opened the gate up to have them see each other face to face.  There was a lot of meowing, swatting and hissing taking place :/  We also eventually switched their rooms to get them used to the others’ scent.  Then we let them finally meet and play together (supervised, of course!)

2013-01-17 22.12.23 2013-01-17 22.12.46

When we went to bed Friday night, we obviously separated them from one another again.  When I woke up Saturday, this is what I found in the office…

kitty terror

Meeko was apparently trying to dig her way out of the office…by tearing up the floor and some of the wood paneling on the doorway.  This girl was NOT a happy camper!  Meeko was so excited to be free again…

Friday night, Scott and I made a pretty big purchase.  We had been talking about it for over a week and decided that it was a good route for us to take.  We both agreed that it’d be a nice addition and worth getting.

Scott and I both haven’t been making good use of our gym membership…I’ve been doing workouts at home and Scott’s been very hit-or-miss since he’s been working on other projects at the house.  I’ve been wanting to start running again but found myself to be reluctant to start up again at the gym.  I am VERY slow since I haven’t run in so long and I guess a bit self-conscious running along-side those who are way more seasoned runners than I am.  Plus, with my stomach problems lately, I may have an intention to go to the gym, but then feel unable to run upon actually getting to the gym.  This way, I can run when I want to and when I’m feeling up to it.  No pressure if I can only run for ten minutes and then call it a day.  So we picked this sucker up  Friday night, a pretty simple, generic treadmill, but it had really great reviews.  Then Saturday morning, Scott started to assemble it.  I am SUPER excited about getting this.  More on that later! 😉

Scott had to stop working on it since we had plans to go with some friends to Discovery World in Milwaukee.  I’ve lived within a half-an-hour from this place my whole life and have NEVER been here.  So we finally made plans to make that happen.  I was really excited about it.  We had a blast!

Discovery World is this super hands-on exploratory museum.  It’s really fun!  They had so many neat exhibits and features.

Scott and I pushed on these yellow ‘buttons’ with our feet to power a fan!  I somehow got the job of pushing two, while Scott pushed one.  Not sure how that worked out…guess I’m more of the manly man 😉

I’m about to lay down on a bed of nails!  That was pretty sweet.  The area I felt the most discomfort was my tooshy lol

There were so many cool things to check out!  This one was really interesting, too.  You’d push a button and the you would see the sound pulse through the tube, lifting white beads up on top of each other.

That’s me!  🙂  It was a really cool place to check out.  I’m really glad that I finally got the chance to go.  We all had a great time together.  After our outing, Scott and I came back home and he finished setting up the treadmill!  Yay!  I took the opportunity later that afternoon to get my sneakers laced back up and tested out the new treadmill.  Ah, it felt so.dang.good to be back running (er, jogging) again!  I can’t wait to get back into a running routine.  I am secretly hoping that I can get up to half-marathon status by mid-May to surprise my best friend and run the Cellcom Green Bay Half Marathon on the 18th of May with her.  But, I haven’t told her anything yet (especially because I don’t know if I’ll even be ready by that point to do a half marathon).  She’s running it in honor of her uncle who passed away about a week ago to a rare form of leukemia.  He ran the Boston Marathon and she is using this run to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I couldn’t be prouder of her and I already told her I’d be there to support her and cheer her on, but I thought it would be really awesome if I could run it with her.  But, only time will tell!

Saturday night was a nice relaxing night.  I stopped over by my parents for a bit, since Scott had a “sleepover” planned with his nephew at his mom’s house since he volunteered to help him with a boy scout project.  So I had the night to myself.  It was spent tracking Dexter and Meeko around the apartment to make sure they weren’t getting into any mischief with each other.  A small turn of events, Meeko who was the punk and hissing, swatting and growling at Dexter, started to finally mellow out.  She started to get close to Dexter and was smelling him and just curious.  Dexter started to lick Meeko!  (AWW!)  But that quickly turned into Dexter starting to bite on her neck! :/  Not cool.  I wasn’t sure if he was just playing but Meeko started to meow and hiss again, so I assumed that wasn’t the case.  The two finally tuckered out, though, and ended up actually falling asleep together snuggling with me on the couch.  Peace at last!

The rest of my weekend was pretty laid back.  Sunday I woke up pretty early, since I went to bed pretty early Saturday night.  I spent the early morning blogging, then headed out to run some errands.  I stopped off at Petco while I was out to try and get some scratch repellant spray to put near the bottom of the door in the office to try and deter Meeko from clawing up the carpet.  I tried it when I got home and…it did absolutely NOTHING.  She smelled it then just kept on doing her thing.  Sigh.  Then I had to close her into the bathroom since I couldn’t afford to let her tear up the carpet.  I hate having to do that, but right now I don’t have any other choice.  😦

I went for another run on the treadmill, which felt great again.  Then played referee with the cats, went to church, did some meal prep for the week and just had a pretty chill night in Sunday night with Scott watching some football and Breaking Bad.  (Sad, we are almost done with the show)  Hope you all had a great weekend and have a marvelous Monday!  ❤
